Fluenz is all about creating a dynamic and fun enviroment to learn what you truly need.
Fluenz French 1+2 was designed by a small team of passionate language learners. Having learned French as adults, many in the team kept the focus on our over-riding objective: creating a program from the point of view of English-speaking adults and their need for fast, relevant learning. Having ourselves tried other software programs and studied French at school, in college, and at different language centers, we knew there had to be a better way. Fluenz is our answer to our own challenge.
At the center of Fluenz French is language tutor Sonia Gil, who guides you throughout the program, providing detailed video explanations of all the material and relating her own experiences learning French in a classroom and later on in Paris.
Having an instructor guide you in English can make all the difference in how fast you can learn your next language . Knowing what's going on and where you're going gives you the confidence and builds the motivation you need to be successful.
Each one of the Fluenz language programs is different from each other, because we've created paths through each language that make sense to English-speakers. While the issues of French are not those of Spanish or Mandarin, Fluenz works on three essential principles:
A tutor is at the center of the learning experience. Learning a new language is difficult, especially if you have to teach yourself. With Live Learning, we have brought to computer education the essence of classroom learning: the teacher. All words and phrases are thoroughly explained and you are guided through a structured learning process.
At the beginning you need to learn in English, and to relate basic French grammar and syntax to English. Focusing on the many common links between the two languages will help you learn more quickly and comprehensively. Using the English you already know to learn French is the essence of Leverage Learning.
You want to communicate the most in the least amount of time, which means Fluenz takes into consideration which words are easiest to remember for English speakers, which expressions make the most logical sense to us, and which are most useful—"cell phone" instead of "horse" or "man running." This is Relevant Learning.
We put a lot of effort into making Fluenz as immersive and well designed as possible. Using the newest multi-media technology, Fluenz blends images, music, video, and Flash animation to motivate you as you learn. Thirteen different kinds of workouts add variety to your practice while dynamic Flash conversations place French in realistic, useful settings.
