The Fluenz Mandarin 1+2 Learning Suite bundles the original Fluenz Mandarin 1+2 software for computers with Fluenz Mobile, an application for smartphones.

We created Fluenz Mobile because learning a language doesn’t ever stop and can’t be fixed to a single place. As language learners ourselves, we know what it’s like to realize the meaning of a new word by the checkout counter at the supermarket, or to practice a conjugation in a doctor’s waiting room. And if learning doesn’t stop, why should the tools not be portable as well?

Fluenz Mobile offers the same experience as our computer programs—including every single video and most of the workouts—on just about any smartphone running Windows Mobile. The application includes full-motion video, great sound, a rich graphic interface, and the ability to be fully interactive while on the go.

By making Fluenz Mandarin 1+2 fully functional for Windows smartphones, we’re trying to realize our vision that all learning should be personalized, virtual, and mobile. Although many popular language programs offer audio for iPods or come in collections of audio CDs, they fail to be interactive. Moving beyond passive learning, Fluenz Mobile makes a significant difference to learners who spend part of their day on the road.

The mobile content comes on a DVD-ROM that is downloaded to either a Mac or a PC, and from there it's transferred to any smartphone running Windows Mobile 5.0 or above. The file transfer goes to the smartphone’s internal memory or to a memory card. Sessions can be transferred to the phone one by one, or all at once. The application is powered by Flash Lite, which is already installed in most phones and is supplied by the Fluenz Mobile DVD-ROM.

Fluenz Mobile does not yet work on Blackberrys or iPhones. Stay tuned for future announcements—we’re working hard.
