We've spent years searching for ways in which technology can create truly memorable learning experiences that can be digitally delivered around the world. As life-long language learners, we've focused all these efforts on challenging the conventional ways in which languages are typically taught. In the process, we've built a company that has grown deliberately, organically, and with a strong sense of purpose. We have both commercial products that are used by thousands of learners in over 50 countries and a non-profit initiative that is trying to deliver relevant language learning to refugees and low income immigrants everywhere. If you have a passion for making things better and the need to see your work translate into tangible results, Fluenz might be a good fit.
The Area: User Team
This team delivers on our dedication to giving prospective and current users a level of engagement seldom seen in the world of language learning. Instead of having one group manage our marketing/sales while a different group inherits users once they buy our programs, we've charged a single team with managing all interactions with our users, before and after they buy Fluenz. Rather than oversell with infomercials and then outsource customer support, we strive to create a memorable experience for users at every conceivable touch point. The User Team's front row view of our programs' successes and failures translates into the most important insights as we work to upgrade and transform our different offerings.
The Role: Team Member
You will be part of a group that seeks to build a unique experience for prospective and current users. Team members go about this mission by writing and producing original advertising and marketing campaigns, designing and executing processes that return common sense to the "customer experience," finding and acting on all kinds of viral channels to spread our message and hear back from our users, contribute to the training of those providing user support, and making sure the back-end of the entire user operation works well every single hour. This challenging position will give you a bird's eye view of a technology company as it navigates its growth, and it will involve extensive collaboration with senior members of our Retail, Operations, and Product teams.
No Titles: How We Work
Ideal candidates will have the flexibility, imagination, and willingness to work in an early stage technology company with people who share many responsibilities, are distributed across cities and countries, and work without titles in interlocking teams. While making the company nimble and truly responsive to its users, these traits are balanced by the hard work of trying to make Fluenz a great, long-lasting company.
Location & Benefits
The ideal workplace for us combines the barrier-breaking and ingenuity-driven values of American entrepreneurship with a Mediterranean sense of how to live a great life. We offer personal time, three weeks' paid vacation, health insurance, a full kitchen in the office, and, as the company expands, a growing range of benefits. Every employee has the opportunity to devote part of his or her time to our philanthropic team, Fluenz.org. Our current job offerings are based in our offices at a converted factory in the landmark Art Deco District of Miami Beach, a few blocks away from the ocean.
